Just Like Heaven, The Story of One Year

At first, Darren could hardly believe it himself. He told all of his friends about it, mostly over Instant Messenger. One of his friends, who had gone to Germany, told Darren that it was obvious. Darren sure didn't think it was obvious before then. At any rate, the first few weeks were like a dream for Darren.
Many nights, Darren would "borrow" his mother's Jeep in order to go visit Erica. Arriving at her house late at night, he would always walk around to the side of her house and throw pebbles at her window. On one of these nights, Darren stood on the wall connected to her house and touched his palm against hers through the screen of her window. "Erica, I'm crazy in love with you," he said, and he was.
Over the course of the summer, Erica and Darren became closer and closer to each other. When Darren was not at Sunil's house playing video games, he was spending time with the girl who he was loving more and more every day. They went to movies together, they went out to eat, or they just lazed around the house. Whatever they were doing, they had fun together.
